His most recent books are a novel, Dirty Rice: A Season in the Evangeline League, a novel, Blue Sabine, and a memoir, Home Truths: A Deep East Texas Memory. His earlier works include a collection of short stories, Fire Ants and Other Short Stories, and novels, Coasters and Memphis Ribs. Scheduled for publication in 2012 is his second collection of short stories, Decoration Day and Other Short Stories.
